 No Garbage Pickup on Labor Day
Garbage will not be collected on Monday, September 6 due to
the Labor Day holiday. All garbage, recycling, and yard waste
pickups will be delayed by one day during the entire week with
Friday’s collection made on Saturday.
For future reference,
there are six holidays during the year when garbage collection
is not scheduled: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of
July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. |

Patriot Day Event to be held September 11 in Farmington
A 911 Patriot Day Event will be held on Saturday, September 11
starting at 6:15 PM at the Walter Sundquist Pavilion at Riley
Park in downtown Farmington. The American Legion Groves-Walker
Post #346 of Farmington, along with the Cities of Farmington
Hills and Farmington, will present the annual 911 Patriot Day
Event to honor those who currently serve our country or have
served in the past.

Commission to Host Public Outreach Meeting September 23, 2010
The
Farmington Hills Planning Commission will host a series of
Public Outreach meetings to gather public input on the
implementation of the Citys Master Plan. The next Open House
will be September 23, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Botsford
Hospital.

For your
convenience the City of Farmington Hills has installed a
Payment Drop Box on the Exterior of City Hall, located to the
right of the double doors front entrance of City Hall. You may
use this Drop Box at anytime 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to
drop off your tax payments.
Please include your return
address on the return envelope and the top portion of your tax
statement in the return envelope. |

Self-Defense Seminar
September 25 at Costick Center
The Farmington Hills/Farmington Emergency Preparedness
Commission (EPC) will present a women’s self-defense seminar
on Saturday, September 25 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the
Costick Center, located at 28600 Eleven Mile Road between
Middlebelt and Inkster.

The City of Farmington Hills invites professional artists in
all media to submit work for consideration to be exhibited at
the newly renovated Farmington Hills City Hall. Farmington
Hills City Hall will provide an exciting opportunity for
independent artists to show their work to the public on a
daily basis, in a partnership between the City and the artist.

Hills Expands Energy Efficiency Incentive Program
Anytime you launch a new program there are bound to be
challenges to overcome. The City of Farmington Hills launched
its Energy Efficiency Incentive Program in December of 2009
with a press release, posted the program on the City’s
website, placed information in the Spring Focus Newsletter and
more. However, it became evident starting Monday, August 2,
2010 that a significant number of people were unaware.

Change for Farmington Hills City Council Meetings
Due to construction currently underway at City Hall, the
Farmington Hills City Council will be meeting in a new
temporary location. The Council
will meet at the Lewis Schulman Administrative Center located
at 32500 Shiawassee in Farmington. Meetings will be held at
the Schulman Center until late fall 2010, when City Hall
renovations are completed. For further information, contact
the City Manager’s Office at 248-871-2500.

Water Use Restrictions
The City of Farmington Hills is asking all property owners
with automated sprinkler systems to follow Voluntary Water
Use Restrictions in an effort to control future water rate
increases. Compliance with the new Voluntary Water Use
Restrictions will result in less water usage during peak
times and help hold down costs by increasing the efficiency
of the water system.
